Over the past 8-ish years, I’ve been privy to wayyyy too many clients wanting ‘just more horses’ to work with.
More horses, more clients, even more horses…the salvation that would allow them to make enough money to keep working with…you guessed it…even more horses. Their faulty reasoning? 🐎 more horses = more income 🐎 more horses = greater impact 🐎 “that’s what everybody wants, more business, right?” 🐎 “I’ll get more experience and then they pay me more!” 🐎 the word will spread…so I can get MORE clients, Hoora! Well… Horse@#$%&! (or the G-version…Horsespit!)
(but wait, do horses even spit?)
Ok, don’t digress Catherine… So, why is “MORE business is BETTER” so very broken in our horse industry? If you’re fully booked (or overly fully booked) you know the answer already. It leads to burnout, accidents, overwork, an ever more tired body and mind…and certainly not to a greater impact, at least in the long term. But I can hear you sigh already…HOW else is one going to make money in the horse world? Feed prices go up, gas costs are through the roof… To be honest, for several of our clients, we recommended that online courses are THE solution. And that still holds true for many of our clients, BUT, we also heard that many of you are not quite ready to dive into the world of online courses and with that the world of tech and online marketing… So here is the question my team and I started with when we began playing with the idea of helping our clients break free from this broken system… “How could we help horse professionals use video, technology, and systems to multiply their income, reclaim time for self and family and still work intimately with their clients WITHOUT burning themselves out?” A working hypothesis was formed. Systems, tech, and video-supported curriculum were not just for ‘online’ entrepreneurs. Every small business, even horse businesses, can automate the vast majority of repetitive tasks, boring tasks while using video to multiply their impact on the horses in their care. And with that, we defy the ‘advice’ of any self-anointed equine marketing coach whose focus is on, you guessed it…getting more clients! BUT, we had to overcome a few hurdles…mainly, how do we help our special audience of riding wizards and tech phobes? We know that just the words ‘tech’, ‘automation’, ‘video production’ might produce more fear in you than would a bucking bronc or a full-out gallop across a pasture filled with major rabbit holes… And so we went to work, each of our team members contributing their specialty to a coaching program designed to make even those most intimidating aspects of technology & marketing feel like a gentle jog across the prairie. 😌 We can’t wait to update y’all soon.
